THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PROGRESSIVES/LIBERALS ON THE LEFT AND THE RIGHTWING TEAPARTY DRAMA!
I am offended when I hear people like Senator Mike Warren say that Progressive group MoveOn.org is like the tea party and won’t compromise. We’ve watched Democrats do nothing but compromise for the first two years of the Obama Administration. Yet with all of their compromising, thousands of MoveOn.org members, myself included, worked tireless hours FOR FREE to help get out the vote for the 2010 Midterm election cycle. We did not get the health reform bill we wanted with a Public Option or Single Payer – yet we stayed loyal to the Democratic Party and helped with the GOTV efforts. Senator Mike Warren – bite me you bastard.
WTF? RALLY TO RESTORE SANITY CRITICIZING THE SANITY OF THE LEFTWING?!
I am also disappointed in Jon Stewart who during his Rally for Sanity equated left wing commentators and journalists Keith Olbermann and Ed Shultz with right wing hate race baiters Glen Beck, Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly (to name a few). There is no comparison between the propaganda wing of the GOP, aka Fox, and any other commentator or journalist on MSNBC. Stewart says that the left automatically shuts down debate with the right. I don’t think his argument is fair or accurate. It’s an absurd and absolutely outrageous accusation. Good of Stewart to appear for an interview with (Goddess of intelligence) Rachel Maddow, however, he couldn’t seem to back up his false equivalencies between the left and right.
The evening lineup on MSNBC from Ed Shultz, Hardball, Countdown, The Rachel Maddow Show and The Last Word always include conservative contributors, politicians and various radio hosts. We get conservatives Howard Fineman, David Wiegel, Pat Buchanan, Ron Christie and Heidi Harris (puke) on MSNBC almost daily – and that’s not all. I think Ed Shultz has more conservative talkers on his show than Chris Matthews! I love The Daily Show; however, Jon Stewart can bite me too.
FACTS VS. FICTION: DEBATING INSANE TALKING POINTS OF THE RIGHT WING IS FUTILE
Debate shuts down when the name calling begins. How can I have a serious debate with people who try to label me elite? An elitist who only wants government welfare, or a Socialist who wants a government takeover of health insurance companies? These accusations have been proven false over and over again. AND these Nazi and Hitler analogies must stop. The right wing is obsessed with Nazis.
It’s hard to continue debating with people who believe that the President of the United States of America is an undocumented worker, a socialist, a Fascist or a racist who hates white people.
It’s hard to continue the debate with people who think that big government is the enemy while they enjoy the benefits of Social Security and Medicare.
It’s hard to continue debating with people who think that supply side economics, deregulating banks, oil, and coal and gas companies is helping our country’s economy.
We’ve witnessed the near collapse of our economy due to risky investments by banks to big to fail. We’ve seen the death and devastation caused by the lack of enforcement of safety precautions in the Gulf Oil explosion in April 2010 after the mining disaster at Massey Coal Mines where 29 miners were killed.
In situations where it’s a difference between life and death – there are absolutes. You’re either going to do what’s right to save lives or deregulate and take lives away. No debate necessary – it’s just common sense.
AND FURTHERMORE…
Even Robert Gibbs with his outrageous “professional left” statement was out of line. But I’m not going to rehash that old nonsense statement. He can just kiss my grits.
AND FINALLY…SO THERE!
I’ve heard enough from these critics who say we need to open up debate, tone down the rhetoric and compromise because we can agree on some things. It’s laughable. This is a difficult feat when most right wing conservative tea party Republicans are willfully ignorant. I refuse to debate anything with “birthers” who are on a never ending search for President Obama’s birth certificate. It’s almost impossible to keep a straight face or take them seriously when RWNJs accuse Obama of bringing Sharia Law upon us. Why waste time? Seriously, how can I debate with someone who believes everything from public schools to health reform is a communist conspiracy theory?
